Ew, help. Fast!

Ok, so I made a post a couple of weeks ago about brazillian waxes, and I ended up getting my first Friday morning.  I was red and tender all day Friday, then Saturday I woke up with a bunch of little bumps that look like pimples.  I didn't freak out yet, because I still had 48 hours for it to calm down before my trip.  Well, now it's Sunday, and they're still there.  They look a little less red and inflamed, but nonetheless, it's like the least sexiest thing ever.  Can someone please help me get rid of them?  I leave tomorrow morning on my trip, and this is not how I envisioned surprising him, "Hey baby, look what I did for you! Covered my lady parts with whiteheads.  Sexy, eh?"   The internet suggests lots of things, one of them being cortisone.  Anyone had any luck with that?  I'm about to bolt to the pharmacy.  Any ideas welcome - I've got 24 hours until I leave.  TIA!

Re: Ew, help. Fast!

  • Cortisone will likely not help as it is usually prescribed for psoriasis, and its use is to strip the top layer of skin off. If yo have white heads that is isues under the skin.

Ploysporin. Tend Skin or worse case try bikini zone ( i had problems with it that didn't make the bumps better). Wear breathable underwear (cotton if you can) and keep it clean. You likely didn't put anythign on it the night after you had it done. I'd use polysporin the whole trip. And you HAVE to exfoliate. Even it is stings a bit. Keep those pores open so the puss and hairs can come out or you will end up with ingrowns. If you feel better about it - exfoliate in the bath or shower with hot/warm water, rinse with soap. Use cold water to close poors a bit, then apply polysporin.

     Good luck!

  • Get some Tend Skin.  It will help it.

And next time do it a week or so before your trip.

  • Haha, yeah, I've learned my lesson.

    Fingers crossed, ladies!

  • This exact thing happened to me with my first wax. Did your waxist give you anything to put on after you got home? I was allergic to the stuff she gave me and it gave me little bumps like you are talking about.  I would try the cortizone like the others said, but you know what helped me? Goldbond medicated lotion.  The one in the green bottle with aloe and cooling sensation.  It didn't make the bumps go away but it made my skin feel so much better. HTH
  • Try to avoid alcohol based products, like TendSkin, they will burn like a SOB and perhaps create more problems. Try not to pick at the little bumps if possible. Go in the complete opposite direction actually, tea tree oil is amazing at treating wax rash. Also, even tho it may sound painful, get those little exfolitating gloves and lightly scrub the affected areas. One amazing product I live by is Miracle Oil. It has tea tree, rosemary, vitamin E, hemp seed, and other holistic healers that will help.

  • I'm allergic to tea tree oil :(.  I wish I wasn't! It's recommended to use for everything!

I've been taking good care of the area today.  It's looking better than it did this morning, still not normal, but I think by tomorrow it should be looking almost back to normal.

Or at least OK in the dark.

  • what the area with antibacterial soap--like Dial (aloe--its a green bar) it will dry up the white heads, they are infected thats why it hurts-- 1st scrub lightly to get rid of the whiteheads, 2nd wash with Dial antibacterial soap...

It does the trick everytime when I get irritated from shaving....GL
