Does anyone know if this is legal?
Hi ladies! So we are heading down to the US this weekend and I happened to come across a huge sale on washer/dryers and I think we would like to pick a pair up! Yay for new appliances! Question though, does anyone know if its legal/illegal to purchase a washer/dryer in the US and bring it across the border? I know you cannot purchase other appliances such as a range but I have looked and for the life of me cannot find info on this! Help!!!

My Blog
I don't know about purchasing new washer/dryers in the US but I can tell you that my washer/dryer were from the US. DH's mom is American and when we bought the house she was selling hers, so she gave us her washer/dryer. DH and I drove to the US with a trailer and came back with the appliances. Since they were older when asked about the value of them at the border we didn't have any issues and didn't have to pay anything extra to bring them accross.
The only thing I want to point out, I think it was the dryer that the US uses a different outlet for, so DH had to replace the power cord.
The US border guards won't know anything about this. You will need to contact Canada Customs before you go down.
