VERY important poll - one of life's critical questions...
...following a conversation between yours truly and my husband regarding our shared love for the heavenly superfood that is bacon:
[Poll]
Re: VERY important poll - one of life's critical questions...
I like it and all but it's something I could live without. I'll have it once in a while but not in doughnuts, brownies, as jam, with apple pie or baconnaise or anything like that. Just plain, on its own. Call me boring but when it comes to bacon, I guess I'm like that.
I don't like it when it's a bunch of fat, with like, just a sliver of meatiness. I'd rather have all meat, and no fatty strip. Maybe that defeats the purpose?
This poll cracks me up. Reminds me of my nursing school classmate, who loves bacon. So much that I told her she should get this shirt, and she did:
Honestly, if bacon weren't so fattening, I'd eat it every day. There's not much better than good, crispy bacon.
What about with maple syrup? PLEASE tell me you like it with maple syrup.
that shirt is awesome! i need to get one! i have been on a MAJOR bacon kick lately. i even bought the microwave bacon so i could eat it at work. i've been eating it every day for the past 2weeks...sometimes twice a day! i turn into the bacon monster.
Mmmmm....bacon dipped in syrup is THE BEST!!!!!
Incidentally, my sister just bought three jars of bacon jam for her boyfriend. For me, that's kind of where I draw the line, but she said it's awesome on grilled cheese.
Totally agree...I make exceptions for pinneapple terriyaki with beef or chicken, Honey Walnut Shrimp, or a slice of honeybaked ham. But yeah, maple syrup must not touch the bacon OR the eggs...Ew.
I like bacon by itself or on a burger. Also yummy on potato skins or french fries.

Ohhh ya baby!!! Though this the only type of pork I'll eat.
When I first met my hubby, he gave me the most perplexed look as I stragically placed pieces bacon in between my pancakes and doused in maple syrup! I was happy to know, that even his dad did the same thing!
I voted for GAG! and overall, I still feel that way - don't even really like the smell of it cooking -, but occassionaly (and farily recently) I do like it. For example, the very rare breakfast sandwich might have some bacon with egg & cheese, and the thing that has kind of warmed me up to bacon is praline bacon. This restaurant down here makes it...pretty basic - just bacon with brown sugar & some pecan bits. Really so amazing.
And even though I am not a big bacon person. I agree with the syrup & breakfast meat. If I have ham or sausage with my pancakes, they are definitely going to have some syrup on them!
I'm definitely a big fan of bacon - especially with maple syrup! I haven't had it in combination with other sweets like brownies, ice cream, etc... but given the choice, I'd definitely try them! Except maybe the bacon jam that lelekay mentioned - that might be too scary. I love actual bacon, but rarely enjoy things that are bacon flavored.
I'm with Chika, though, about the bacon fat. I can't stand the texture of it - sometimes if there's too much I cut the fat away and just eat the meaty part. But I do reserve the drained (liquid) fat from cooked bacon to make things like pancakes and french toast. It makes them nice and crispy on the edges with just a teeny hint of bacon flavor.
I was reading a blog and randomly came across this picture. Is this for real?!
I don't know if that is real or not, but that is
OMG, I soooooo want to try some of this!
As to the Diet Coke w/ bacon - gag! But I bet my Coke fiend husband would try it.
Have to share a recipe that I stumbled across in one of those high school fundraiser cookbooks:
ingredients were:
1 pack of pasta
2 packs of bacon
... that's it
You cook the pasta, then fry the bacon and save the grease. Shred the bacon al over the pasta ... add the bacon grease (as a sauce) and mix.
ENJOY!!!!!
Haha I have to admit that Vance & I tried it and it is GOOD. Well, at least for the first half hour, then we felt pretty frickin disgusted.
