what ya got? Smile

Re: Monday Confessions

  • A cold. And everyone is unhappy I brought it to work. But I'm a temp and need the money so I don't take off unless I absolutely have to.

It's also causing a really bad  mood for me, so I may be a little snippy with certain incompetent co-workers today. Just saying.

We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

  • hmmm....I seriously think that if I missed class tonight (2 weeks in a row) that I would not miss a thing!

Also, I'm procrastinating asking off to go to Haiti because the trip terrifies me...I'm excited, scared and nervous all at once but I feel that I need to go...no idea why but for some reason I'm supposed to go on this trip.

  • I have a lot of homework and study to catch up with, but want to go shopping for our next week's ski trip!
  • I am soooo in a Monday mood!  All I want to do is not work and be at home with my DH.
  • Here's something mildly controversial that might start something....  :)

Our health insurance through DHs work is pretty expensive.  So many of our friends have denied coverage (for themselves and their kids) because they can't afford it.  So sad, right?  Except they all drive brand new cars, live in nice, new houses and have lots of new stuff.  And they go out to eat all the time.  They spend money all the time.

I don't feel bad for them.  They could have health insurance if they wanted to.  I wonder how many other people are just like that, and is this Health Care Reform thing just overblown because people don't want to sacrifice their big screen tvs.

  • I have to have a root canal on Friday.

If that's not enough of of a confession, I'm scared out of my mind. Oral surgery? Eh no problem. Root canal? Shoot me, I'm terrified.

  • I spent over $100 at Victoria's Secret when I only went in there to get the 7 panties for $25.

I got some cute stuff though!

I have a friend in some what the same situation. Her husband who is a lot older than her has insurance through his job, but has denied insurance for her becuase it's expensive, he tells her that they would pay cash for all her medical needs. Ok, she was only 25 when they got married and in good health, but she is not staying 25 forever!  And to top it off whenever we have get toegthers and discuss current affairs, they are such opponents of health care reform!  She is the number one person who would benefit from this bill!!! Oh and what else bugs me, she complains about property tax and they don't have kids they will never have kids why she should pay for someone else's kid to go to school, while she comes from a very poor family that if there wasn't public school system she wouldn't get an education!!

Me too.  I know MANY people like this.

My addition....  Im in a very odd place right now with some friends.  And in a position where I just have to sit and wait to see the outcome.  And I hate it.  My heart aches for all of them.

  • I went to a physical therapy appointment and didn't notify anyone at work, just went!  It was short anyways, and the e-stim was punishment enough.

I totally admire you for going to Haiti!  I hear you though, its scary - but I know you'll think its so worth it in the end!

  • Dh finally quit his part time night job so he will now be home in the evenings and all I want to do is leave him at home with DS. Tuesday I am having dinner with some ladies, Wed is the book club and I am sure I can find something for thursday. Would it be mean of me to leave him with Ds every night this week?

nope. sounds like a plan to me!

  • I almost called in sick to work this morning because my kitty was puking when I woke up.  But, I came into the office anyway and have done maybe 15 minutes worth of work in the almost 3 hours I've been here.

That's about 13 minutes more than I have done today Embarrassed

  • I am desperately trying to finish a project and it is taking a toll on my looks. I made brownies out of stress and cannot stop eating them. Then our heater broke on Sunday and our house is now cold, so I am wearing the world's ugliest outfit: pajamas, an old hoodie, and Uggs. I haven't showered because I don't want to be cold and naked.

  • I've been away from this board and The Bump for a month and chose today to test my willpower and pop over to see what was going on. Needless to say I lost a good 2 1/2 hours reading threads even though I'm not entirely sure I know what the drama is about.

  • More of a life confession than a Monday confession, but...

I love teaching and I've always intended on going straight into the classroom once I'm certified, but now that I've had a taste of educational outreach programs I think I like that better. I wish I knew how to go about becoming a female Bill Nye or Steve Spangler!

  • My MIL came over to watch the girls this morning while I went to the doctor and did errands. I am back home now but asked her to stay a bit longer so I could "work." Yes, "work" = nesting.

Why don't you go ask some of our nesties if they've been without health insurance because they're blowing $ on big screen tvs? Confused  I know of at least two nesties here on our boards who've done without insurance because there literally were no affordable options. Or because they didn't qualify for an individual plan because of pre-existing conditions. I know these two nesties IRL, and neither one of them was out buying flat screen TVs or fancy new cars.

To suggest that the health care reform issue is "overblown" because you happen to know a few irresponsible people is massively insulting to the millions of hardworking Americans who'd gladly purchase health insurance if they could find an insurer who'd take them or who offered premiums they could realistically afford. • I smuggled 5 cases of Dublin Dr. Pepper back up to Columbus with me after leaving Austin yesterday. That stuff is like a drug for me. We got our engagement pics done yesterday too and I think I look totally hawt. My life is boring.

  • Oh hi confessions.

Went into the Town Lake Animal Centre today looking for a cat.

...we called dibs on an 8 week old black lab.
