We kept putting off buying a car seat, well not really putting it off, we were just slacking (on one of the most important things...). David got one from his office that someone else had bought for their grandbaby, but it was only used one time. It wasn't in any wrecks and the expiration date was four years away, and it hadn't been recalled. So, we decided to take that one. This weekend the fire dept was doing installations for carseats so we took the car and carseat to have it installed.
The carseat didn't fit, it was a Graco snugride. No infant carrier will fit in the back of my car, of any brand. Also, no convertible carseat that were at the stores we went to fit. We went to so many stores this weekend to find a carseat that fits in the back of my car, and nothing fits, nothing. I did some research and found out that the only one that will fit in my car is a Britax. We found a store nearby that had them, so we now have a carseat that fits in the back of my car. It is a convertible one, so it will fit a baby from 5lbs to 45 lbs, and it can be rear or forward facing. The Graco will be used in David's car. There was about 30 minutes there where I was sure I was going to have to buy a new car, which I really, really didn't want to do. I was so excited to find one that fit!
Re: Carseat drama
The thing that made it easier for us to pay for it was because we will be able to use it for a long time, since it is convertible and goes up to 45 lbs. If we were to use an infant carrier we'd have to buy that one, and then by another one later one. So we'd spend the same amount of money, now we're just spending it all at once. It made it easier (not like we had a choice though - gotta get the carseat that fits properly).
David wanted the cowmooflauge sooooo bad! It made me dizzy, so we went with the onyx.
No kidding! I was surprised when he said he liked that one.
