Community Supported Agriculture

Do any of you participate (particularly in Ontario)?

Can you educate me about it?

Re: Community Supported Agriculture

  • We looked into it several years ago but decided against it because for what we would get it was costly. Also we wouldn't get everything we would need so we would still have to go to the market/grocery store.

Basically with most CSA's you get a basket of produce each week either delivered to your door or that you pick up. You pay even when you are away but some CSA's give you the option to send that weeks basket to someone else or donate it.  What you get in your basket varies each week. So you may get a few peppers, some lettuce and eggplant one week and then onions, squash and chives the next week.

We found it much more cost effective to just shop at the market...which is the exact same farmers that the produce in the baskets are coming from.

Here is a good website for you to check out.

  • Fair enough... in Toronto, I have such easy access to St. Lawrence Market...
