Anyone else watch No Reservations?

I used to watch it when it first came out because I had travel channel at home, but when I moved to NYC I wouldn't pay for the extra channels . . . Now that I have Netflix on demand I watch it constantly. Anyone else a fan?

Re: Anyone else watch No Reservations?

  • oooh.  Me.  I totally want to go on a trip with Tony.  He's kinda rude on other shows, but on his show, I find him refreshing.
  • We are!
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • Aria, he is a little rude on other shows, but he seems pretty down to earth and respectful on his own. I just love how grounded the show usually is.

My favorite episodes that I've watched recently - Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Outer Borough NYC, disappearing NYC, and Puerto Rico (this one had me laughing out loud last night).

  • Me.  I love it!  I really enjoy the places he visits and what types of things he focuses on (off the beaten path)...plus his commentary often makes me literally LOL

  • Did you see him in Iran? Iraq? Israel area?... They had to get shut in a hotel for days due to bombing, etc... I think he was freaked out, personally.  He wound up going to the kitchen of the hotel and cooking for his 'helpers'.

That was one of the only ones I saw, but he did seem more 'normal'.

  • Lorelai, I think it was Beruit. That was a really moving episode.

  • Yep-I believe you're right!  I saw a diff side of him than ever before... Amazing...

I agree.  I loved how they hopped in and made comfort food.  What a scary one!

I really like NR because it's like a mini-doc, where you learn so much more about local culture and customs, rather than a silly food show.  (Although I also love some of the silly ones, too.)  I learned about Japanese baseball fanaticism and decided against my dream of going to Machu Picchu because of the altitude sickness.  I learned about separate single men and family restaurant entrances in the Middle East.  I also loved hearing about the restaurant along the DMZ.  It's so brilliant.  I usually catch the marathons while J is away.  J is not a fan.  His loss.

  • We watch it all. the. time.  I said this in response to your FB post, but my husband has it bad for Anthony Bourdain.  Like, I think he would giggle like a schoolgirl if he ever had the opportunity to meet him.

  • We don't watch it regularly, but we really like it. My MIL has the super hots for Tony :P
