I'm trying to decide between the two. I've been running, but want to do something different for awhile. Anyone tried them?

Re: p90x vs Insanity
I can only speak for the P90x. I really like the workouts for the upper body and the lower body. The Plyometrics is also really good. As is the Ab Ripper. The CardioX is "meh" and the Yoga is entirely too long.
Bif did it earlier in the year and lost 25lbs doing it religiously. Now he's training for the marathon, but he plans to start doing it again after he's finished with that.

yummymummy was talking about both on h&f (post above) maybe you could ask there?? Apparently she gained some weight back when she did insanity...
I gained weight doing p90X also, but I felt more toned so I'm pretty sure it was muscle weight. Though I really only did 60 days according to their schedule then dropped some in favor of running more so maybe I would have lost during the last 30 days? Anyway, I don't know much about insanity so I can't help you much as far as comparing.
I liked P90X, but I do wish there were more workouts that provided a total body effort. I did the normal program which on non-recovery weeks is 2 days arms/back, 2 days legs (one strictly strength, one plyometrics which is jump training, a cardio leg workout), yoga (very long, challenging), and kempo (cardio kickboxing). I got kind of tired of 2 of the 3 arm workout videos, they had about 4-5 variations of pushups and pullups. I think for a guy this would be good, but since I'm not trying to get guns and my arms toning up only pleases me to a certain extent, I just got tired of them. Also, the workouts do last a long time, the strength videos are around 50 minutes + ab ripper always added on another 15 which brings you to over an hour. My favorite workouts were plyometrics (intense cardio) and core synergenics (good total body workout). On a whole, it's a great program for getting in shape, I plan to start doing some of the videos again soon as it gets warmer which makes me want to run less.
