XP: Anyone own Reebok EasyTones?
I am looking for a pair of black sneaks for the hospital and I
wanted some opinions on these (if I'm going to be on my feet for 16
hours I may as well get some extra oomph out of it).
I have yet
to find comfortable shoes that don't give me blisters and I've got the
clearance to wear black sneakers so I'm game! Any recs (easytones or
otherwise)?
Re: XP: Anyone own Reebok EasyTones?
I don't own any, but my gut tells me "gimmick." That it may help 1-2% of all wearers and that other 98% shell out the $$ and they end up in the back of the closet after a few wears.
I have them, MIL gave them to me for Christmas. I have not worn them much, because I haven't been walking much due to the weather. I'm not sure I'd want to wear them 16 hours a day, though. They are quite a bit heavier than normal shoes (part of what makes them tone is that the soles are weighted). I think you'd get tired wearing them for that long.
I will say that I do feel like I get more of a "workout" when I wear them to walk. I doubt they're going to miraculously tone my legs, but I do think they'll make a difference.
From a comfort standpoint, several of the instructors at work (I work at a Pilates studio, and they are on their feet teaching 5-6 hours in a row) swear by Dansko clogs. Not the most attractive, but they say they're comfortable and they do come in closed-back styles if that's an issue. A client who manages a Starbucks loves MBT's and says that though they're expensive, they last a long time and you can even send them back to get the soles re-done of they wear down. Personally, I can't get past how they look, but that's just me!
Dansko can be ugly shoes, but they are extremely comfortable and they would be dressier than regular tennis shoes. Actually, I've had Dansko mary janes that were just as comfortable, if not more comfortable, than sneakers.
A friend of mine has the easy tones & she works retail, so she's on her feet ~12 hours a day. She says she can feel it in her calves & they make you walk a little differently, so they probably help you to use your muscles differently than when you walk in regular tennis shoes.
She had to do the custom ones, since the regulars were backordered soooooo far & even those took around 4 weeks to show up.
