PW: Crackberry

Apparently, they don't like it when I'm out of the office for two days while Scarlett is sick.

They're giving me a Blackberry and a remote access key so I can work from home.

Re: PW: Crackberry

  • Well it sounds like you're a valued employee and in this economy that's a good thing!  Oh, and I lurve my blackberry!

  • Wow... that's great?...

    Cool they think you're valued!!!

Stinky that they want you 24/7 or whatever your time frame is...

    Enjoy it if you can!

Dude. You totally captured how I feel about it.

  • I refuse to have remote access from home. I know my job wants me too but home is my safe place and sanity. I do check emails and do conference calls when H is sick but only when/if he's napping.

I understand that....when I'm not on the clock my time is my time.  I never check email/remote into my desktop on vacations/weekends or anything like that.  But, then again, I don't have a Blackberry, so work can't contact me directly at any time (only through email, and if I'm off for the rest of the week I have my out-of-office message up).  I can see how the remote access can be a big PITA for some fields though.

  • I would be super cool with that IF they are going to be paying you for a full day anytime they contact you, and IF they respect what would be reasonable office hours when trying to contact you. Otherwise, NOT. I'm not one of those people who wants to be in the loop when I'm not there. If my peeps can't run things without me now and then, they'd better learn :P.
