Hey ladies-
I was hoping you could help me. MH is traveling to Toronto later this week for work and I'm going to join him for a few days just to get outta dodge. I'm not sure if anyone here is from Toronto, but I'd love some insider suggestions about places to visit, things to do, and more importantly, good restaurants! We are staying downtown at the Fairmont Royal York.
Doesn't look like it will be the greatest weather, but I'm content to just walk around and eat
(I was going to post this on the Toronto board but it looks dead there, and I will post this over on Travel, too)
TIA!

Re: Toronto- things to do?
I am pretty sure the Toronto board and Canada board point to the same page.
Anywho, I'm from TO. I'm not very familiar with many restaurants downtown since I'm cheap (lol) and we stay a little closer to home, but I do like Canyon Creek Chophouse, it's on Front west of University. It's like 1 block from the Royal York. I get the Asian Beef Salad...... mmnn delish. If you love sushi there are a billion All you can eat sushi places on Bloor near Spadina, one of my favourites is "Sushi on Bloor" - but go early or it's packed (at least it is on a weekend).
The King Tut exhibit is on right now at the AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario). You may also want to check out the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum), shopping along Queen Street and in Yorkville. A lot of the restaurants along King Street, West of University (also walk-able from Royal York) are good, I have been to a couple.
Check out the website http://www.torontolife.com/
They are very reliable when it comes to shopping, things to do and restos. They are honest and don't pump up the cheesy stuff. The resto reviews are excellent.
I live an hour or so from Toronto. Some other suggestions...
Shop and shop.
The spa at the Royal York is lovely.
You don't have to go much further than downstairs in the Royal York for an amazing meal - I love Benihana.
How did I not know that we have a Benihana in Toronto???
