Rec your favorite frozen lunch

I rarely go out for lunch and lately we just haven't had as many leftovers as we usually do, so I'm living in the land of frozen lunches.  I'm kind of over my usual Lean Cuisines and Smart Ones.  Anyone want to rec their favorite brand or variety, even if it's LC or SO.

Re: Rec your favorite frozen lunch

  • I often live in the land of frozen lunches.

My favorite Lean Cuisines are sesame chicken, chicken carbonara, enchilada suiza, or swedish meatballs.  I eat the sesame chicken one the most.

Several people in my office are doing the healthy choice (I think that's the brand?) bowls, where you heat the sauce and entree in their two seperate containers and then mix once hot.  I hear those are tasty.

  • I love the Marie Callendar's frozen dinners for lunch! My favorites are the Turkey breast with stuffing and the beef tips with mushroom sauce.  The country fried pork chop, chicken, and steak are all really good, too, but when you buy one with gravy, the fat content goes up.
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

  • I used to eat way too many LCs!  these are my favs:

    baja-style chicken quesadilla

    baked chicken

    alfredo pasta w/broccoli & chicken

    chicken w/basil cream sauce

the tortilla-crusted fish and some spa salmon one is good, too, but I don't like eating them at work since they both leave a fishy smell.

They're called Healthy Choice Steamers. I like the Red Pepper Alfredo. it has a decent amount of chicken to help keep you full. its by far one of the most feeling freezer meals i get.

I also like the LC paninis but I don't think those are as filling.

HEB has some new lean meals. do NOT get the king ranch chicken. its nasty. i took one bite and threw it away and left to go pick up lunch Smile

  • I don't eat too many frozen meals (I'm on bp meds, so sodium is a no-no), but when I do, I either eat the LC pizzas or anything from Amy's.  I'm not a fan of LC other than the pizzas though.

  • I'm currently eating a LC Panini - it's the chicken one with mushrooms and bell peppers.  It's really yummy but it never fills me up.  I made a big batch of greek pasta salad the other day so I just brought a cup of that and a yogurt.  :)

  • I usually don't do frozen lunches, but have recently started in an attempt at portion control - if I have leftovers, I will fill the bowl all.the.way.up especially if its something good Embarrassed. The brand I've been getting and are pretty good if you like pasta dishes is Michelina's. Although its not a ton of food, they are only about $1 and pretty tasty.

  • I have been working with Amy's and Kashi frozens for awhile bc I can't stomach all the sodium and am allergic to the preservatives.  :/

For Amy's I really like her Vegetable Lasagna (not garden veg.), Spinach Pizza and Mexican Casserole Bowl. I like Kashi's Southwest (?) Chicken bowl.  Non-frozen, Pacific Organics soups are really good, too.

I have been trying to make it to Sprouts to pick up a few of their pre-made lunches- they look really good, have good ingredients and are very resonably priced.

Also, I'm pretty sure you are up north, but if you ever come central, Whole Foods has some great little lunchables combos w/ chicken salad, crackers, cheese and grapes.  It's something good and easy that you could make at home.

  • I also love the Healthy Choice Steamers. The Chicken Marinara is my favorite, but I haven't had one that I didn't like.

Hungry Girl just did a review of some of her favorite frozen entrees last week. I got the email, but if you go to hungrygirl.com you can search frozen entrees and it will bring up the article.
