Re: Did anyone have a Destination Wedding?
What state/country was it in? Mayan Riviera, MEX
If you had it at a resort, what was the name of it? Aventura Spa Palace (palaceresorts.com)
What time of year did you have it? 11.23.04 (slow season)
Pros? FREE (we didn't have guests), gorgeous, intimate, very low stress. You get there and pick your options very quickly. You are already on vacation so it is a great feeling. Unique. You feel great about saving money!
Cons? Limited options (like flowers - it's whatever is local/available to Mexico), if you have guests then that would complicate things a little, photography was limited but I think they have improved the photo package

Price - you can match any budget.
Guests have TONS of stuff to do, so you don't worry about having to entertain them.
Transportation from venue to venue is a piece of cake.
Very low stress planning. Most venues provide anything you want including a coordinator.
Flights and hotels there can always be had for cheap.
The Vegas Knot board is amazing and you can plan the whole thing via the internet.
You can automatically keep the guest list down. (This is true of any DW). Cons? The Vegas stigma. People have a pre-conceived notion about Vegas weddings.
Price of fancy or traditional wedding venues. They can be more than some local areas, especially if you don't live in a major city.
Price of food. Tends to be higher given the tourist nature of the city.
Avoid summer. Given the climate, summer wedding is not ideal.
What state/country was it in? Clearwater, FLorida
If you had it at a resort, what was the name of it? Marriot Sand Key
What time of year did you have it? May
Pros? 1) The weather was beautiful that time year. 2) I wanted a beach wedding. which I was able to have and still have family than going to an island, etc where no one would probably would have been able to afford it. We saved the island for our honeymoon... 3) I only had 25 close friends/family so I didn',t have to mess around with long lost family members or people I would never see again. I
Cons? I can't think of anything on my end. Guests had to spend $ on flights, etc. but I gave them a full year notice and send out packets to everyone to update them with hotel prices, itineraries, etc. so everyone was well aware of everything.
