thoughts and prayers please!
my pregnant SIL is in the hospital. She'll be 34 weeks tomorrow. They're tryin to stop labor. And they said something about giving her shots to mature the babies lungs? (is this real?) A friend said they don't normally do that unless they really think she could deliver. She was texting tj earlier about the pain. And the pain meds they gave her made her sick. As of friday, he was weighing in at 5lbs. But I'm hoping they can stop this for a few more weeks!
and her shower is on saturday!

Re: thoughts and prayers please!
i've heard of them giving mommas steroid shots to help mature the baby's lungs... so i think it's real.
definitely going to pray for your SIL.. keep us posted!
We just went over fetal lung development in one of my classes, and I learned that babies don't develop mature surfactant (which is simply something that reduces surface tension and thus reduces the work of breathing) until week 35. So maybe the shot is something to do with that? That's my 1st year respiratory student opinion.
I hope everything turns out ok though! I'll be praying for her! Keep us posted!
The lung shots are real. There is a girl on 12-24 whose baby was born at 33 weeks and he is doing awesome. You'd never think he was a preemie.
Prayers going out to your SIL and the baby!
