BR: baby books

I have been looking for a baby book and can't really find what i'm looking for...ok I really don't know what I want I just can't find the one yetStick out tongue  Where did you find yours and does it meet your needs?  I am looking in the $20-30 range. TIA

Re: BR: baby books

  • The one I wanted was $60+ from Ruby*Love Designs at Etsy.  So, I've decided to DIY...I'll do a digital photobook online after Libby is 12 months old.  For now, I've been keeping details, etc. on a Word Document (milestones, firsts, random thoughts, etc.) that I'll compile into a baby keepsake book for her, along with photos, etc.

You might look here for ones in your price range:

Yes  I like this idea! I've been kind of struggling with the whole baby book thing, since I don't like most of the ones I've seen. I think I'll do this and then go the DIY route and just make a photobook after a year. Smile

  • i'm planning to go the photobook route (some day!) too.  here's one that is gorgeous - I'm not sure who posted the link to her blog a while back, it might have been lori?  i only wish i could take beautiful photos and be artistic and creative enough to create such gorgeous books documenting each year of my child's life (or my life, for that matter!) -

i've been meaning to go back to see if she posted what her older daughter's first year book was like - but i haven't searched for it yet.

i can't even manage to put one together of our week-long alaska trip (over 8 months ago!) much less one for an entire year.  sigh.

My mom actually has TWIN keepsake books for me and my brother...but yeah, I am taking the high tech approach on this one and going with the digital book.  I just made a "Libby's First 6 Weeks" book on Shutterfly for my mom...she's going back east to visit her sister and wanted to have it to show Libby off to her!

It should be here next week.

I've thought about doing one book for both vs separate books for them, and I think I'd rather do separate ones. It's going to be hard enough to get people to see them as individuals vs a unit (especially since they're identical) that I feel like I should really make an effort to give them as many individualized things as I can. Maybe that's silly?

And the book looks good! You know it's funny...in some photos she looks SO much like Joseph, and in others she looks just like you. BTW, I still love love love that b&w photo of J yawning or making a face or something at Libby while she makes one back - it is just so incrediby cute!

  • Red Envelope has a nice one. And Pearhead has one that is sold at Babies R Us that is really nice. Both are in your price range.

  • I like the ones Malia suggested.  I went with a cheap one from Amazon and work on it as I can and have been uploading photos to costco and have vowed to print some every 2 months for an actual photo album (I'm old fashioned like that Smile)

Another thing I do - I have one of those baby specific calendars and try to write something every day, or at least every other day.  I like that I can record the simple things like "first visit to Daddy's office" or "first stroller ride," "went to starbucks" etc and still can put milestones in it.  Most baby books only ask for the milestones, but I like recording all the little things too.  A lot of my friends say they wish they had done something like that.

This is the one we have for Bella and I LOVE it! I REALLY wanted a 3 ring binder so I could print my blogs and add stuff to the book. I didn't want to be tied down by having a bound book that I couldn't add my own things into. It was about $36 at a store near us. I LOVE IT!!

  • Our friends made us a scrapbook that we can just insert pictures into.  It includes decorated pages like "Baby and Lola" (our dog), "Coming Home," "My First _____", etc.  I love it because it's personalized to our life and my job is simply to print the pics and glue them in.

I always see baby books at Ross' and they're dirt cheap -- like $5.  Many are totally cute, too!  Maybe try those kinds of discount stores and check their stationary or book (not necessarily baby) section.

Not silly at all.  The keepsake book my mom has for us are two separate book, one for me and one for him, so they're individualized, but many of the photos are us together.

Ah thanks....not the pinnacle of my creativity...I just used their layouts and backgrounds because I needed to get it done quickly for my mom.  For Libby's book I plan to do the layouts myself and upload.

I love that pic of J and Libby too...adorable.  We don't have many pics of me and her together since I'm always the one with the camera.  Our photog is doing a minishoot at a local park and I'm considering going with just the two of us so I can get nice pics of us.  We shall see...it's only $25 and includes one 5x7 print.

BTW, will you be doing pro pics for the boys or just working the magic of your camera?
