Hey ladies...I want to look into getting one at some point to back up my laptop and BF's if/when he gets one as well. We don't have alot on the computer so it's not really for space- more for if it crashes...would want to back up music and pictures. What size do you recommend or do you need more info?
Re: external hard drives?
We use Passports. A 500gb should probably be all you'd ever need. IIRC they are less expensive at Frys than Best Buy, but Best Buy will match their price.
DH has a 1TB one, but we have a ton of high res photos and music.

I have a 1 TB Western Digital. I bought it at Fry's when it was on a sale for $40 I think. Looks like this:
*101 Blog*foodie blog*scrapbooking blog*
the price difference between a 500gb and a 1Tb is pretty negligible nowadays, so i'd probably spend the extra $20 for the bigger drive. it should last for a long time, and if you're backing up 2 computers, the extra space won't hurt.
i also have a Western Digital and haven't had any problems. Got it at frys.
Ditto.
