So, my dog has hives. She's had them for about 6 months. We've been to the vet twice for steroid shots, given her antihistimines, and sprayed her with a magic spray that seems to work well, although she hates it. She won't even come downstairs in the morning to go out or eat because she doesn't want me to spray her. I've tried doing it at other times of the day to change it up a little so she's now deathly afraid of me.
Anyone ever take their pup to a canine dermatologist? I see one on 5th street on my way into town. I am wondering if it worked and if it was horribly expensive.
Re: My babydog has hives. :(
Yeah, its a seasonal thing. She's had this for the past two years, and we did the food study and everything. She gets Nutro Lamb and Rice, and its been good for her.
Although, I've heard that dogs can develop food allergies to things they never were allergic to before, so I guess we need to bring that up to the vet, also.
Our dog is allergic to chicken, and you'd be surprised where you find it. It's in EVERYTHING. We started buying him different treats, etc. and it helped. There's also a vitamin at Whole Foods you can get to add to their food. It's cut down on his skin issues.
