So a co-worker this morning put in her notice. She is leaving and going to open a Great Harvest up in North Charlotte. She said that she was about to hit 50 and thought it was about time she tried one last thing with her life. She made a comment that people around here are unhappy (which she's right about) and it's nice to have choices.
If you could change your career - would you? And what would you do?
Re: Complete Career Change
still trying to figure it out! i have ideas of things that interest me, but it mostly involves small business and retail, which is such a tough thing in this economy. but yes, i would love a career change from what i'm currently doing.
About 2 years ago I entertained the idea of going to massage school, but we didn't really have the extra money for tuition. And now it's too late to do anything with a baby on the way. It would be nice right now to find soemthing I could do from home.
Ditto this. I'd like to be a small business owner.
I guess I could right now, I'm just too complacent where I am. (which is not a good trait)
However, I would love to open up a small boutique of sorts specializing in baby items.
Dude, I *heart* Great Harvest, good for your coworker!
If I could, I would probably go to school for nursing.
How funny! I work in finance too and really don't care for it. I like what I do, but just want to make a difference or just really enjoy where I work/people I work with on a daily basis.
I work in finance/accounting and feel the same way! We might be onto something here! I've looked into changing things up, but the money always seems to keep me in this field. But hopefully I'll be able to switch to a SAHM in a few years.
I'm with ya' on that!
I want to be an event planner.I keep playing around with the idea of starting my own business but I just won't put one foot in front of the other. I have no idea what is wrong with me.
I'm good at it and its a passion of mine. Maybe one day I'll get out there.
i did!!!
I earned my bachelors in advertising... worked for 3 different companies (getting promoted each time). Then after about 3 years i just decided it wasnt what i thought it was. i love the theory of it just not the practice.
I would really love to open a dance studio but that wasnt in the cards at the time and still isnt quite yet. So i became a teacher. Its a stepping stone for me. I have been teaching for 3 years now and coach the dance team. I plan to do this for a bit more... no definite plans. but i am very happy i switched. it was very scary and nerve racking at the time though.
