I just need to vent and I already cried to DH so now I am going to cry to you ladies if you will listen. :-)
For starters, about a year ago I got my job where I work now making significantly more money than I ever had before. DH also already had a really good job. For the past year we have been busting our butts to pay off Debt and save money for a house. Our goal was to buy a house this year before the end of the summer and to start TTC by Christmas.
We have worked so hard to build up our savings account and to get some debt paid off that got racked up one semester my financial aid for college didn't go through and everything went on credit cards. We are so proud of ourselves for working to get to a place in our lives where we could actually be here and buy a house.
Except now we have been slammed with MORE bills. DH just had heart surgery and my insurance company gave me the wrong information. They originally told me we would have to pay around $400 (which was fine) and we just got some bills today and we actually owe $1500. In addition to that, due to a w2 error, we owe $1700 to the IRS. Not to mention DH has been out of work for 6 weeks with no pay.
I just feel so beaten down. I feel like we can't get ahead and when we do we just get thrown back on the ground. I have been so excited about buying a house and TTC this year and now that isn't going to happen. I know it is better to be in a stable financial situation for both of those things we want but it's just frustrating. I'm just rambling now, thanks for listening if you got this far. I'm just whining and want to stomp my foot and say "It's not fair"!
ETA: I'm not a selfish person, I promise. I know that many people are much worse off than we are and I am truly grateful for all that we have.
Re: Pity Party for 1
You don't have to defend yourself! It sucks to be working so hard toward a goal and then have the rug yanked out from under you. Try to negotiate payment with the hospital, sometimes they'll lower the bill if you can offer to pay most of it upfront. You can also make payment arrangements with the IRS if you'd like instead of forking over the money now.
((Hugs)) Maybe money will just appear from somewhere unexpected. Things happen that way sometimes
ditto Taytee .
Things always have a way of working them selves out. Just make a few phone calls and see what you can work out. And I have heard of money trees
Taytee said it well. Its really frustrating when you're working hard for something like that. we bought our house almost a year after we had planned (10 months later) due to financial and work issues. And trust me I totally understand the IRS frustrations. Tax issues are one of the primary reasons that we haven't been liquid the past two years. It sucks. A lot.
Keep your chin up though. It does always work out in the end!
