Riddle me this...RE: Chic fil A drive thrus
Can someone explain to me why they FAIL at the drive thru concept of their business?
The one at Ben White and 35...horrible getting in and out...same at Mopac and Ben White. Went to one in San Marcos recently and they had 3 employees STANDING out there to take your order and relay that info to the person in the building. This was on a Saturday afternoon...why is this such a foreign concept to Chic-fil-A?
Re: Riddle me this...RE: Chic fil A drive thrus
Hmm.. I always thought they had a pretty quick drive-thru. I've never had a problem at the one by us. And during a weekday lunch hour, I thought the guy standing out there taking orders was genius because there were easily 9 cars in front of us and we barely waited at all.
Weird.

I guess I just don't get WHY they need to do that? There are so many other fast food restaurants that work their drive thru perfectly fine...the only reason I've ever seen someone outside was because the speaker system wasn't working.
Is there nothing else around there?
No, there's lots around both of them. One it the one on 183/Braker, the other is on 620/183 (part of a string of fast food- Whataburger, Jack in the Box, Fazoli's).
CFA is just that much more popular, and they have adapted to it by adding second DT lines and having ppl outside taking orders to speed it up. There are twice as many ppl in the DT there at lunchtime, but I've never had to wait a longer than average amount of time because of it.
Hmm, the one near us is awesome, but it's a little more suburban/out of the way, I guess (Slaughter @ SPM). And I like the people outside during the rush! I sometimes take DH lunch if I'm up north around that time. The CFA by his work is insanely busy, but by the time I get to the window my food is ready to go.
I really love how they say "my pleasure" when you say "thank you". They're so gracious.

i love that too! and they always sound so happy!
maybe because the food is "fresher" and takes longer to make? in 'n out does this, too, but they are definitely not quick to make orders - fine by me, it's worth the wait.
I did a mystery shopping for mcd's once - I had to count to the second how long it took to get my food. they have a goal of under a minute, there's no way they can cook anything in that time, it all has to be under a heat lamp.
