Spring Break starts for the kids where I work at 2:15 tomorrow and I'm so excited. I don't even mind that I have to work the first week of break. There's just something that is so nice about being able to work 8-4:30 instead of my normal 8:30-5 everyday. That's definitely a good thing, as far as I'm concerned.
For those of you who travel for spring break where are you going and what are you looking forward to doing most over the break? If you don't get off for spring break, what's your favorite thing to do to celebrate the arrival of spring? Do you plant flowers, really do a heavy spring cleaning?
Have a great Thursday! The weekend is almost here ![]()
Re: Only 2 more days of kids..
You know what the best thing about your age group is? (You are preschool and younger, right?) They don't realize they're about to get a whole week off school. When I was teaching middle schoolers, the last days before spring break were murder. But not nearly as bad as the MONTH before summer. Oi.
No, no spring break here. (Aren't you the only spring breaker?) Because my university is on the quarter system, and there's consistently two weeks between terms, "spring break" is considered the two weeks between the winter and spring terms. And because I work university admin, we have to be in the office. I suppose I can't complain... the entire university shuts down and I get paid vacation from just before christmas to just after new years. It's really nice to not have to save your vacation days for that time period.
This is going to sound really strange, but I just like being outside in the sunshine when spring comes. I like taking leisurely walks with Pugsly, listening to Chopin on my mp3 player. That's enough to put me in a good mood.
I've never taken a spring break. In high school, we didn't get one. I think we got off on Good Friday, but just for that 1 day, so that's hardly a spring break. In college, we got a week, but I never went anywhere. I always had a job on campus which was still open, so I was always there during break even though no kids were on campus. I've never known a job to give a spring break (other than teaching), so I guess my spring break opportunities are over!
I do nothing for spring... we live in an apartment, so there's no outside-work to be done. I cleaned out my closet a couple of weeks ago and too some things to Goodwill... I guess that counts.
I have Spring Break at the Performing Arts Studio so that means I have a Thursday night off (thinking a girls' night is in order because DH will be gone!) and a Saturday off. That Saturday is my bday which is perfect timing... not sure what I want to do though. Things have been so busy I'm honestly thinking a long visit to my favorite coffee shop overlooking the ocean is in order -- people watching, blog catch up, photo play, etc...
DH will be doing a service project trip with our youth group M-F so I'm going to go with them Monday (I'm always off Mondays) and Tuesday (taking a day off my office job). So that'll be fun.
