Another Poll: What do you call your MIL?

I saw this poll on the main nest page and wondered what you ladies do?[Poll]

Re: Another Poll: What do you call your MIL?

  • I avoid using any name... but if I have to call her something I'll call her by her first name...
  • I call her by her first name b/c that what she told me to call her when we started dating.  Its kind of weird because now she'll leave me voicemails and refer to herself as 'mom'.
  • I voted "avoid using any name" which is why I try to do, but I call her by her first name when referring to her and occasionally when I've had to use something to get her attention.
  • I call her by her first name but she also refers herself as just mom.  First names are just easier...you say mom in a crowded room and 30 people turn around.
  • I voted first name but prefer Hag from Hell.

HAHAHA Oh I was wondering who would be the first to pick that one or at least admit it.

  • I chose first name, but this has been really hard for me.  I've always called my friends parents Mr. and Mrs.  _____.  So while we were dating that's exactly what I did.  I'm trying to call them by their first names now that we're married and at their request.  Sometimes though I jumble everything up and call them First name Mr. Last name or something weird like that.

    Right Hug

  • I call her Mrs. ____ but she would prefer if I called her Germaine (her first name).

To this day I still have a hard time calling my ex-MIL by her first name.  I saw G Ma typically.  Rarely will I say Karen.  She sends me cards and signs them "Mom and Dad" which is really sweet.

I do use her first name when she is there. Generally it is your mother (she hates mother).

  • Up until we got married I always called her Mrs. ____ b/c that's how she introduced herself to me when DH and I started dating.  After we got married I said I'm going to call you by your first name, ok and that's how it's been ever since.
  • I clicked her first name, but thinking about it I think I really try not to call her anything.  When I'm talking to BJ I say your mom and when I'm talking to most anyone else I say "BJ's mom"

I just call my MIL her first name - but my mom, who has been married 28 years, still avoids calling my grandpa by name and did the same w/ my grandma until she died.

  • I'd tell you, but the Nestgods tend to ban people for using that type of language. Devil

  • Well, the first thing that came to mind was not an option Stick out tongue  So I chose that I try not to call her anything.

  • I call her by her first name. Sometimes when talking to other people I refer to her as "crazy Nancy".

Ugh. It's not that I hate her....it's just that she is nuts and I don't have the patience to deal with her drama & BS.

  • I use both my in-laws' first names, but find it so funny what DH calls his parents. He calls them Grandpa and Grandma. When I asked him about it, he said it's because they're grandparents. But, they're your parents!
