Yelp is an online "yellowbook" where real people post their real reviews. I've been "yelping" about all the wonderful and sometimes not so wonderful foodie and fun places that I go, too. Eric & I try one new restaurant once a month or so, because it varies our routine from me cooking away and we explore our city through food. I like finding the hidden treasures versus the chain restaurants, those mom and pop stores really need our business!
This morning, I got an email from one of the Elite members asking if I can be part of the Elite team. I get invited to special Yelp foodish events, try new restaurants, and mingle with other "Yelpers" and so much more. I'm truly excited and honored that my "yelp" reviews have been helpful and provided great insight to these places. I happily accepted the invitation, and now an Elite Yelper!
I see this as a great addition to my foodie experiences, and writing/blogging. I've been toying with the ideas for working for a restaurant part-time or working with a local newspaper...and this might help me towards that goal! ![]()
Re: Awesome YELP news...
Thats great! Congrats! I love Yelp and use it all the time.
You should totally use this to become a food critic
That's one of my goals Marissa! I'm really hoping this is where it will take me. ;-)
You'd be great at it! I've read some of your reviews from FB before.

You're too sweet, thank you!!!!!
hahaha Becky, only time can tell, but I wish I could get upgraded to a mansion....that'd be living the sweet LIFE!!!!!
that's exciting!
But, be careful with YELP. Most businesses hate them because they lack any integrity and allow false reviews and will only take them down if you pay them $$$$$/month. I was just talking about this the other night with a colleague and apparently they have a HUGE class action lawsuit against them for this type of thing. Just want you to be careful and not get roped into something like that.
