UPDATE

I was getting quite depressed today, so my friend and I went and got mani/pedis. I got gel over my own nails and LOVE it! So shiny and theres no tips on so its all my nails :)

House stuff:

So, today was a lot of sitting around and waiting.

We were responsibe for paying the U&O, wich we did Monday. The township sent soemone out to look at the property and sidewalk. It FAILED, and the township will only accept new cement, not patches over the cracks. Then, the township states they have put a lien on the property because the sidewalk has been this way for more than 90 days .

So today we asked  bank that owns it to put the money to fix it in an escro account for us, and get rid of the lien. They said NO, and want us to sign an addendum that we are responsible and not them.

We came back to them again earlier this afternoon and let them know our Mortgage company is going to deny our loan if the sidewalk can't pass U&O.However outr Mortgage guy tells us we can get a temp U&O and replace it with in 90 days. So, now we are waiting agin to see if they wil fix it, or at least pay off the lien.

The problem we are at is that if we back out now, we lose our 7K deposit. It clearly states in the sellers agreement we had until closing to get our deposit back, and there are no loop holes, not even our Mortgage falling through. Basically , I feel we are being forced to buy the property at this point. If the bank wont pay off the lien, we will have to, and get the sidewalk re-paved. It comes down to us spending roughly 5k for the lien and repairs(already got 4 qoutes), or losing the 7k deposit. It looks like we will now be closing on Monday, if we decide to go through with it.

Re: UPDATE

  • Oh babylove....what a crappy situation.  These are the types of stories that freak me out about buying  a house.  I hope whatever happens is in your best interest and it works out well.  I saw on FB that you posted that R was buying it no matter what.  I just want you to be happy.

     Big hugs to ya darlin!

Thank you hun... you make me smile. How are you feeling?

  • Feelin pretty ok at the moment.  It changes every 30 minutes or so though lol.
  • Ugh, what a crappy situation.  I feel so bad for you and Aria (and anyone else) going through all this junk just to buy a house.  I hope that whatever happens is the best thing for you guys!  Keep your chin up, things'll work out the way they're supposed to.  Hugs!
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • That is total cr*p! I hope it works out! Hugs!
  • Ugh eff the township and their crappy sidewalks! i didn't realize homeowners were responsible for sidewalk upkeep, that's kinda crappy, shouldn't the township/city/whatever fix their own dang sidewalks?! T&P it works out for the best!
  • This sucks, but I really have a good feeling about the future of this.

Are the cracks due to trees?  Is there root mitigation to be done?  I'd kill two birds with one stone, if necessary.

Ditto. I'm so sorry, Bella. It sounds incredibly stressful.

Nope , just plain old cracks from age and stuff. But, one of the concrete guys we talked to for a qoute tells us that if he has to bring out all the equipment it will be cheaper to do everything at one time. The patio in the back has improper grating and was going to have to be repaved anyway, so it might kinda be a good thing.

  • This really stinks!

Is this something (I truly don't know...) you can use your homeowners insurance for or is it a preexisting thing?...

I'm very sorry to hear this!  just a sucky situation here... I hope you love the rest of the house and all else is great!

  • This plain old stinks. No advice here but tons of "sh!tthatsucks" sympathy.

  • Uggg, that freaking sucks! I really hope that something is worked out for you guys -- like the sidewalk not having to be repaired by you... That's so lame -- I can't beleive that's even required for a home owner. I'm sorry you're having so much trouble with your house buying. I'm sending lots of luck your way that things turn up for you!
  • Such an emotional rollercoaster... hey world, quit sh*tting on Bella and her homebuying efforts!
