Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution

Are any of you watching this?  It's insane!  I know (as a Nutrition teacher) that it's really hard to get the kids to accept and want healthier foods even when you show them a tasty way to prepare it.  What's amazing to me is the fight from the cafeteria workers and how little it seems that some people want to make this change.   It's no wonder our country is in the horrible state that it is.  Ugh.

Rant over...

  • I'm watching it, I was surprised when the kids didn't even know the names of the vegetables.

  • Loved the show, it made me regret my fast food lunch and rethink my grocery shopping for this week! Disgusted by the way America's subtle habits and tastes have taken us to such a nutritional crisis.

This new generation is expected to DIE before their parents? CRAZY! I will not bury my children before me because of the poor food choices I  have made.

  • DH and I watched it together and it really made him realize how important it is for us to set DD up for a lifetime of healthy eating NOW. Kids not knowing what a tomato is made me sad. That just blows my mind.

I understood it as children are expected to live shorter lives than their parents as in a parent living into their 80s and the children only living into their 60s (for example).. I didn't think they meant parents actually outliving their children. I was half-watching it and playing with DD though, so I could have missed what they said.

Either way, its sad. And shocking.

  • We watched it tonight on DVR. So sad, but I'm so hoping that people will start paying more attention to what they eat. I don't eat perfectly, but I can really tell a difference in how I feel when I eat well vs processed foods.

If you liked it, you might want to see Food Inc. or read In Defense of Food.

  • You should see is special on Chicken farms...
