Just started bc

So I have just started my 2nd month on bc (Loestrin 24). During the 1st round when I came to the "little brown pills", I started my period just like normal and everything was fine. Well I've continued on to month 2 (about a week into it) and today I randomly started my period Again! It has only been a week since my last one.Normally, when not on birth control, this is around the time of the month that I would start. So I'm not sure if that is why I started again?

Is this normal when your body is just trying to get adjusted? Or could there be an issue?

Re: Just started bc

  • You should discuss this with your gyno but it's normal to have irregular periods and breakthrough spotting in the first few months on any bc.
  • You should always discuss any issues with your BCP with your OBGYN given that none of us are authorized or capable to give you concrete information. I will say that Loestrin 24 was the first BCP that I took, and I hated it. My periods were all over the place, ZERO libido, and crazy moods swings.

    GL with this.

  • I had similar issues with Loestrin. Keep in mind, it can take your body about three months to adjust to a new birth control, so some irregularity can be expected. It does sound like Loestrin may not be strong enough for your body (It is almost as low-dose as you can get). If your birth control isn't strong enough, then you're more likely to get pregnant on it.

Keep an eye on things, because some adjusting is normal, and talk to your gynecologist about switching to something else.

Also, just so you know, because a lot of women don't, bc can seriously mess with your emotions, so if you're switching, take note of any changes. My poor fiance had to deal with me being a crying mess for a few months because of something I was on. Emotionally, Loestin was fine with, but I ended up settling on Nordette, which has similar qualities but is a bit stronger. Good luck :)
