cp/leander farmer's market: i went; anyone else?

it was really small, but it was the first weekend.  hopefully, this will take off and get bigger.  we bought some bibb lettuce, but that was it.  i would've bought veggies (broccoli, tomatoes, etc.), but the line for that "booth" (it was the back of a truck!) was really long.  no thanks.

and i guess the trick is to get there early because we went at 11am, and the meat people were out of everything but hot sausage, pork belly, and tongue.

i was also reminded that next time, i should probably bring a couple of my HEB cloth bags.  i suddenly realized i had no way to carry anything around, but like i said, it wasn't very big.

anyone else go?

  • no, but I really want to go!  sounds like they have decent stuff but, like most markets, you have to get there early.

I went to the georgetown one about a year ago - it's on a weekday basically in the middle of the day.  I went after work (5pm-ish) and there was barely anything left. :/

  • It was on my list but got sidetracked with having to work this morning!!  Maybe next time, I like a good farmers market.

  • We went and got there right at 9. There were not many people there when we arrived and within 30 minutes it was PACKED. I imagine that will die down week to week, but I was impressed with the turn out.

I would like to see more produce vendors, so I hope they invite/allow a few more. We didn't need any produce or eggs because we just had a big grocery shopping trip a couple days ago (before I knew about the FM) but I am looking forward to getting produce next week! That broccoli looked great and the tomatoes were so pretty! ;)

We got some bread (which is already almost gone!), Strawberry Honey Jam (soo good!), sausage and some Tortilla Soup.

  • I meant to ask - where in 1890 ranch are they set up?

  • in the parking lot right behind the movie theatre.
