Awkward question (a bit graphic)

Sometimes I have a bit of a problem that makes my husband and I nervous.  I was wondering if anyone else starts bleeding during sex for no apparent reason.  Now, this doesn't happen all the time, but when it does it's really pretty random.  The last time happened about a week before my period was supposed to start.  It looked like we butchered something (sorry if that's tmi).  But then we had sex again 3 days later (I was away on business) and no blood at all.  When I bleed it's not painful, I just don't know why this might happen.  Our poor sheets........  Any thoughts?

  • My thoughts: GET YOUR BUTT TO THE DOCTOR!!!!! but really, I cannot think of any "normal" reason why that could be happening. If it looks like your ate butchering something you need to get checked out!

  • I agree with the others, You need to get to the doctor and get this checked!
  • I agree with PPs--go to the doctor. Don't waste any time because it might be somethings serious. Good luck.

  • I had a problem kinda like this, but I didn't notice I was bleeding until after I went to pee afterwards. I don't know that it ever happened during the act (he always falls asleep immediately after, so who would ever know? Smile ). But I called my doc and he said that it could be because of an STD (not an option for me, I've only ever been with DH), or because something about sometimes something develops that gets irritated when the penis hits it. I don't remember exactly what he said it was. But I didn't have insurance, so I didn't go get checked, and it stopped on its own. But I don't recommend you do that - GO TO THE DOC!

  • When I was younger, this happened to me for about a month. I was due to have a pap smear anyway, so luckily I went to the doctor. I had chlamydia and HPV. I was not happy to say the least! The doctor said the bleeding could have been caused by either. I was treated for chlamydia and the HPV went away on its own. 80 per cent of people carry this virus at some time in their life, and it can make your cervix bleed at the slightest bump. So I would definitely go to the doc in case it's something more serious :)
  • See your physican.
  • This used to happen when I was younger, but now I've been sexually active for years and years and years and it doesn't.

    Go to the doctor!

  • I don't know what it is, or why, but this happened to me years ago. I don't think it actually happened during sex. Or if it did my BF at the time didn't say anything. I had no idea until later in the night when I got up to pee.

And yes, it was a lot. Like you said "looked like we butchered something". We weren't rough or anything, no pain, just lots of blood. Lots.

Since it only happened the one time, I didn't worry about it. Well, not too much. But if it's happening even on a semi-regular basis, I would check with my Gyn just to be safe.
