Kids these days lol

So I was looking at my 18 y/o cousins FB pictures and am absolutely shocked at how Highschool girls are dressing.  There seems to be two extremes.  Extremely slutty gym rat or extremely slutty glamazon.  I swear in her "hanging out" photo album I saw a girl wearing a dress that barely covered her dodah that looked like it would be at home in a high class strip joint.  She had hair that was DONE to the max and make-up that would have made Barbie look under-done.  Right next to this girl,  just hangin out was my cousin whose hair and make up were in a similar state,  a pair of gym shorts that had been painted on and may or may not have been a belt in a former life and a see through tank top that barely covered much to begin with.

I thought well maybe she and her friends are just trashy and checked out a bunch of other of my cousin's pages.  Nope apparently teenaged boys dress exactly the same as they did when I was in High School but "trashy" is in for the girls.   Yeesh.  When I went to High School if you wore spaghetti straps on your tank top you were daring.

  • I know!!!!  My cousin's FB page is exactly the same.  I sincerely hope that their parents aren't letting them leave the house that way.  I hope they're hiding the clothes (or lack thereof) in their backpacks and changing when they get to school! *L*

  • Yeah, I've noticed that too.  Have you seen today's prom dresses?!  I swear I wouldn't have been allowed out of the house in 90% of what passes for every day clothes right now.
  • My real question is,  "what if you drop something?"  You know they can't wear regular underwear with that stuff so is that thing on the floor a casualty of looking hot. Is it like "oh damn I dropped my pen.  well I guess I have to borrow one."

Huh?  I hope you're exaggerating to make your point... really?!?  We wore tube tops and "belly shirts".  I actually remember this t-shirt that my grandmother bought me that barely covered my rib cage.  Used to love it.

But I will agree, I'm amazed that all the girls have this trashy look going on... I play hockey with younger girls and have been amazed that they all look the same... really when you pile on that much makeup and do your hair that big, I can't really tell them apart.

  • yes, slight exaggeration.  I did wear shirts that might show a little belly,  my did often told me I was going to get a kidney infection because they were going to freeze.  But I am not exaggerating that much.

I wore this awesome totally instyle out fit to school one day in grade 9.  The jeans were tight and my top just barely grazed the top of the jeans.  If I lifted my arms over my head you could see my whole belly.   I was in awesome shape then....sigh...sorry back to my story...one of the school guidance councilors made me change into my shirt for gym class because I was "wearing a shirt that was just asking for trouble."  that would cause the older boys to think "that I was more than willing to put out and take advantage"

She called my mother to rat on me.  My mom told her she had bought my shirt for me and that she needed to take her head out of her as$ and look at the other girls at school who were wearing much trashier outfits.

  • I was shopping with my mom in the KIDS section for my step sister and there was totally one of those hoochie strapless, barely covers your a$$ dresses there.  I was appalled.  I fear what my kids will be wearing when they get older.  Hopefully by then the fad is turtlenecks. haha.
