So my MIL told us back before christmas that she was going to get us a couch for our housewarming gift. TY MIL
I loathe our current couch. So we have been on the hunt and we cannot find much that we like. Here are two that we like. So what do you think and any recommendations on brands of sofa's or where yours is from. These would be the exact colors and pillows. This first one is lane furniture. The second is broyhill and the one im leaning towards more.

Re: Sofa Shopping (PIP)
I like #1 for the following reasons:
It's darker so will show less dirt
It doesnt look stiff like the second one and I hate stiff couches
I really like the throw pillows too
I like the style of number two a bit better than number one. I do prefer the color of number one though.
I would go Darker than lighter. We have a light green sofa and it looks horrible at the moment. I'm hoping to clean it up a bit when it gets a bit warmer out and I can have the windows open. I'd also look into the stain protectant. We have it on the green couch and I think it has limited the amount of stains at the moment.
I actually like the 2nd one for the following reasons:
--The cushions look slightly sturdier (Elizabeth said stiffer; IMO, that's not always the case. You'd have to sit on it to see if it's just sturdier or stiff. In my experience, the cushier, less structured cushions usually look saggy after maybe a year or so. Which sucks... because then you want a new couch! LOL
--It's more neutral so you have more flexibility to redecorate. I also don't really care for the color of the first one. It's kind of like a cross between brown and burgundy, which I'm not a fan of. I do like the pillows though.
I know nothing of brands or anything. I personally would just Google them to see the general public opinion of the two, check out the fabric each is made of, the protection options for each (warranties, Scotch-guarding, etc.)
I like number 2 best. For all the reasons Paula said plus, I'm a big fan of Broyhill. They seem to last forEVER (My mom has two Broyhill Sofas in her den that I think we have had for 20+ years and they still look as good as they did when she bought them and sit wonderfully). Plus, I'm a fan of lighter colors for personal reasons (two light haired cats - cat fur bad). Oh, and I think the fabric on the broyhill will "catch" less things, like lint, than the other fabric.
ETA: I think our sofa is a Lane and although it's beautiful and I love it, in the places where we sit a lot, the cushions are kind of sunken in. We're actually having someone come and "refill" the couch so that it won't look bad.
look wise I like #1, but in the end I think whichever one is more comfortable to sit on, my hubs may never forgive me for buying the couch we have now - it's cute yes - comfortable no - so what ever is more comfy
I like #2 the best. I think the color would be easiest to decorate around, although I like the chocolate brown too.
I don't know if you guys have a Tema around, but I LOVE their furniture (it's very contemporary/modern). It's a little pricey, but beautiful. We bought our bed from them and we found 2 couches and a chair that I'm convincing Mike that we need. It's temafurniture.com. Sorry, I'm at home and can't post links from my Mac.
Once I get to work I'll post the pic of the one I liked...I think it would have been uncomfortable though so we're not getting it.
