So I'm religious about checking my credit card statement and I just saw a charge for a restaurant that I've never been to... in um... CHARLESTON. I called and they said that the card was physically swiped, meaning someone had counterfeited my card! Who does that?!?
BoA was great and they reversed the charges no problem, and canceled my card. But still! BAH!
Re: FML
Two of us in one week?! That's crazy! Capital One made me fill out fraud paperwork, but that might be because the person who stole my info did a cash advance for more than the max limit. People suck.
Haha whatever you're drinking, pass some this way!
What's crazy is when I was an identity theft victim, I always had my card in my possession. TWICE I've been through the ATMs where the card slot is rigged with a recording device, which, when downloaded, allows counterfeiters to recreate debit cards using my personal info.
CRAZY stuff out there!
Yeah! I still have my card in my possession too. I didn't even realize people could do this.
Wow that's crazy. I guess I need to keep up with my card more. I don't use it much so I don't check it online that much.
Is there any way to tell if a machine is rigged like that? Can they do it to any machine or just certain kinds?
This just happened the other day for me, I went to an ATM sunday and later in the day on the news it was said that someone was going around to the banks and installing "skimmers" in the machines. Tons of banks around the one I used had the skimmers and I am so afraid that one had one too! I've been checking my bank acct everyday for something fishy.
My Blog!
LOL! Cheers!
