Here's the super condensed version...
My radiation oncologist very strongly believes the uptake on the PETscan was from an inflamed tonsil. She scoped my nose, mouth and throat and didn't see anything to be concerned about. Whew!
I have to have an MRI next week to be certain that it's nothing and then see my ENT to see if I need to have my tonsils removed.
Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers!
Re: Update on me

That's great news Gerrie, I was hoping for a FANTASTIC update like this. Virtual toast to you!
I can't imagine that having your tonsils removed will be all that much fun, but what a relief!

I've heard from several people (my doctor included) that having your tonsils out as an adult is pretty bad... but honestly I'd have them removed awake with a rusty pocket knife over having cancer. For real, bring it on! LOL.
BWAAHAHHA!!! That is awesome freakin news Gerrie!! I am soooo excited for you!!
As far as the tonsils go...I had mine out in '06 and it sucked pretty bad...I was out for like 2 weeks =( You can't eat bc it hurts like the dickens and then you get super weak but whatever dude...F U CANCER!!!!! WOOHOO!!
Happy dance!

That's great! I hope you don't have to have your tonsils removed (I still have mine too and wonder if they might need to be taken out.) But if you do, I'm sure you'll be fine.
I am so happy for you that it was all clear, I had my tonsils out this summer and i was sore but it really wasn't to bad
Well, sounds like good news to me!
And if you do have to get your tonsils out, you get to eat lots of ice cream!
Will keep praying for your Gerrie!
Great news!!! I'm so glad.

awesome.
I had my tonsils out at age 10 and it wasn't that bad - I think I would compare it to having strep throat. at least as an adult, they can give you some lovely pain meds
