Decor Help (if you're bored)

Hey Ladies... I haven't posted here in a while thanks to work, but I've been lurking this last week or so and have seen that you guys give great decor advice, so I thought I'd give it a shot (plus it's another post to the board which has seemed slow).

Anyway, DH and I are closing on our house Wednesday and since Friday is my bday, I took the day off to work on painting before we move stuff in.  The bathroom is smaller and doesn't have windows, so I'm trying to keep it lighter, but what color would you recommend painting it?  This is the shower curtain/towels that will be going in it.  Cabinets/countertop don't matter as we'll be replacing them and aren't set on anything yet.

FYI - The lighter part of the shower curtain is more of a shimmery gold than a tan.

For a while I was just thinking a lighter brown/tan color, but I don't know if it would clash with the gold, then I thought yellow but I can't figure out if that would just be too much.. I'd like to hear what you guys think.  Thanks!

Re: Decor Help (if you're bored)

  • I think what I'd probably do is for the lightest color on the strip of the brown if the shower curtain. (That sounded so grammatically awky.)

  • Yeah I think I would go with a very neutral light tan color that is close to whats on the curtain.  If you get a warmer shade, even if its not an exact match it should tie into the curtain.  In a small space, I wouldnt want to have more than that going on with the towels already being a different color.
  • I would probably do an ivory/cream color.  Since you will be updating the vanity, I would try to get the fixtures in a gold/brass to work with the curtain.  I'd also think about an interesting mirror with gold/brass accents or framing.

  • Sorry, I had to sign off yesterday, but thanks for your responses!  I think light brown/neutral sounds great, so thank you!
