Vent: I would like to smack my brother right now

I'm so mad at my brother right now, I just got off the phone giving him a piece of my mind.  My family is very big into holidays, we always spend the "big ones" (Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter) together.  The last couple of years my brother has had it at his house in DS.  This year my mom decided she wanted to have it because my grandpa is getting old and lives nearby so he could come.

Well my brother can't be bothered driving like thirty minutes to attend, he and his family will celebrate with their neighbors.

It just really p*sses me off because this is the first year that Elise is big enough to understand the Easter Egg hunt, and we always did the other games, now we won't have enough people.  Every year his kids were growing up, we made a big deal of it for them.  I feel like he's giving Elise the shaft and I told him so.  Not to mention hurting my mom's feelings.

GRRRR I would like to drive over there and kick his @$$ right now.

Thank you, vent over.

  • I would be really annoyed. So you can drive a few hours down there, but he can't drive 30 minutes?! I might lose my mind on him - quite selfish.

  • so i guess the neighbors are more important?

ugh.  i know how you feel.  i have divorced parents plus in-laws, so holidays are a clusterf*ck for us every year.

without going into any details, this has totally been on my mind, and I hate thinking about it..

  • What did he say when you put him on the spot? My brother always clams up when I do that. I'm sorry that it got to that point.

  • I also meant to say that good for you for telling him something. He should hear what an a$$ he is being for acting so childish. Even if there isnt gonna be anymore kids at your parents, still try to think up a couple games to do with her to make this Easter memorable for her. I hate that he is putting his family on the backburner..
  • This so sounds like my family. For Thanksgiving this past year my whole family was fighting so no one showed up at our families thanksgiving and for christmas my aunt always has a huge party on christmas and No one showed up because it was "foggy". It really pisses me off.
  • yeah, he pretty much clammed up and stammered a lot of BS when he was confronted.

    Thanks for letting me vent!!

  • OMG this reminds me of something my BIL would pull. Whenever we try to host something, they make it sound impossible to come over, because they have a baby. Well, 4 years later, that baby isn't much of a baby anymore and they STILL make the same excuses.

Oh and did I mention, BIL is literally around the corner from us? Yeah...

I feel your pain, Christen. :( What an @sshat!
