Good Fabric Store?

Joann & Hancock are nice, but I'm looking for other options. I really like a set of curtains from Ballard Designs, but I can't see myself paying $200+ per panel. Please & thank you.

Re: Good Fabric Store?

  • Banasch's?

Otherwise what about ordering online?  Most places will send you swatches for cheap.

  • There is a speciality fabric shop up in West Chester. It's called Yarns & Fabricatations. It's right off Cincy Dayton Road, and like 3 minutes from 75. A family friend owns the shop and although I've never purchased anything from them, they have some super nice fabric. I'm not sure which Joanns you've been too, but have you tried going to the Joanns Super Stores? The only ones I know are Mason and up by the Dayton Mall. They have a much bigger selection of home dec than the little Joanns thats in Forest Park.

  • Calico Corners in Kenwood has a great selection but I'm not sure about their prices.
  • Swatch''s in Montgomery. It is a privately owned "Calico Corners" type of store-- they have lots of curtain and upholstery fabrics and fantastic sales 2 or 3 times a year. They also have names of people who will sew for you after you decide on fabric.
  • Are all the stores mentioned only upholstery fabric stores or are they also regular fabric stores as well? My mom sews for a living now (her retirerment job) and she is always looking for new fabric stores.

  • There are 2 great fabric stores in Waynesville if you don't mind driving a little ways.  The first one is called The Fabric Shack, which specializes in fabric for quilts and small sewing projects.  The other one is The Fabric Shack Home Decor, which has upholstery and drapery material.  HTH!
