So its been over 30 days since my boss asked me to give him a chance at making changes in our office, and so far things are going very well.
However, my boss' life is totally in the sh***er. His wife is still in Missouri, doesn't want to move here . . . he can't sell the practice in this economy . . . can't afford to hire a second DVM . . . its a mess.
Friday I discovered that my co-worker, who is the bookkeeper, has been giving herself 100% paid medical benefits. This is without the owners consent. Nevermind that she was managing our health insurance incorrectly to begin with . . . which is another story . . . for the last 3 years she has not paid her 50% for health benefits. Plus, she wasn't technically eligible for benefits since she works only 14 hours a week.
I am now going to work to disclose this to my boss. He is going to hit the roof. The thing is, personally I feel badly for this girl because they are in some serious financial trouble. Professionally I am super pissed off and want to let her go. Ugh.
Re: Bad stuff at work . . .
Wow. You've got so much crazy shi!t going on at your office!
amazing... what some people will do... and think they're going to be okay (as I type on here... )
but is the rest of your work situation any better?...
This. We have a not so but so similar situation going on here and it BLOWS my mind how stupid some people can be. I mean really, doing something this shady will not only not have your benefits paid anymore but you also wont have a paycheck. Give em an inch......i tell ya.

This.
Update . . .
Because of a long drawn out feud between my boss and a previous DVM, we won't be prosecuting. Co-worker is saying this was a verbal agreement between herself and previous DVM. We cannot prosecute without bringing other DVM into this, and my boss would rather die than let on that something is wrong in our office.
We did get our attorney and the police involved. She has agreed to make restitution by working off her debt. We will never get it all . . . she is moving in May and can only work 14 hours a week . . . but if she fails to pay us back then we will file charges and prosecute. Because it is over 10k it would be jail time and a fine if it goes to court, so she will avoid that at all costs.
Sometimes I love my job . . . others . . . not so much.
