Was there ever a screen door? If not I don't see how an inspector could require you to put one on. Have you asked at Lowes/Home Depot if it can be special order for the correct size? Maybe your contractor on your house could look at it and help you out or if you could find out who the original builder of the home was and they could give you some information or perhaps fix it if they are still around.

Thanks for the info...I have a glass and screen guy coming out on Friday...my concern is that now they're thinking we may need to replace the entire door. I'm going to call my REA tomorrow b/c I honestly don't see how this is something that could/should have come up in the inspection. I'm just starting to get pissed over the entire thing.
Now that we're looking at it as closely as we are, you can see where a screen door would have locked (it has the little place for the lock to latch onto), but we never noticed it before.
Really, this chick is getting a great deal. We're leaving all appliances, including washer/dryer (which we'll need to replace for ourselves) and I'm still willing to give her $100 b/c of the door.
