So I haven't got my cat fixed yet. I have been putting it off. Everytime we have the money to take her in, something happens and we have to use that money for something else. She is an indoor cat Has always been an indoor cat. We take precautions to make sure she doesn't get out.
She is in heat. Again. For the third time in three months. G'ah it's annoying. She is just so...so...so...Creepy,,, She is happiest locked in the bathroom. It's the only time she isn't crying. She just sleeps. I have a male dog and a husband, when she is around them she is beside herself. It's soooo wierd. This tax return. I don't care what happens. We can live off of KD. I am getting her fixed...That is of course assuming we don't have a massive issue with the furnace (like last time) an issue with a car (the time before) DD doesn't go through a massive growth spurt and completely run out of clothes that fit (the first time we went to get the cat fixed when the cat was only a few months old and in no danger of going into heat).
I know it's bad. I know that people on here have strong views about un altered animals. It's going to happen. I promise! I have no desire at all for her to have kittens.
Re: Flame worthy confession...
Our kitten went into heat twice before we got her fixed. When we first got her they underestimated her age. Thanks vet.
A cat is heat is so very annoying. If you shop around you can get it done for around $100. We paid about $300 at our new vets office, and I was really pleased with the care she got.
We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?
There is an increased risk of cervical cancer with each heat they go through. It's usually recommended they are fixed at six months just because they can go into heat any time after that. (not flaming, just because you said you were surpirsed)
If something does happen - check with your city and local humane society, some have low cost spay/neuter programs or may offer assistance.
At least it's a cat though, we had a dog who went into heat the week before her spay appointment. It sucked because you have to take a dog outside at least a few times a day. Luckily for us the vet moved up the appointment so we only had to make it through one day.
