Crappy neighbors...WWYD?

When we bought our house last summer, the people in the house next to us had moved out and pretty much abandoned their house. It's been on the market for several months, but no bites. The owners don't take care of the house and the lawn is always really long and unruly. The other people in the neighborhood have called the city on them and have forced them to mow their lawn a few times since then. This week the owners apparently did some "spring cleaning" in their house and filled up several big black trash bags and left them on their lawn the day before trash collection. Well, the trash men never picked up the bags (which I don't blame them for since it was never put in a garbage can). So now they have about 10 big black trash bags sitting on their front lawn and it looks horrible. Is there anything I can do about this? Who do I call to get the trash bags picked up?

Re: Crappy neighbors...WWYD?

  • Is it on thier front lawn like on the curb or on their front line like several steps from the curb? I would try and drag the bags to the curb next week and see what happens.
  • call code enforcement.  typically the second time they have to come out for a warning it's a fine.

On their front lawn about 2 feet from the curb. I'm just not sure the city would pick it up even if it was put on the curb.

    Ditto this.

Also, if I wasn't 100% sure we didn't live next to each other, because I've met you IRL and know what you look like, this would have made me think we were possibly living in the same neighborhood. I have neighbors who have had the city called because they don't mow their lawn *ever* and they now have a huge line of black trash bags along their driveway... weeeeird.

  • Call 311 to schedule a pick up. Its what the home owners should have done.

    Charch is wise.
