There is a new restaurant in the shopping center behind Chase bank called Cajun Best...I have to say....it's not good. What they claim to be cajun, isn't really cajun at all. They have poo boy sandwiches, pastas, fried rice, platters served with potato salad & fries, cajun hot & sour soup, egg rolls, and spring rolls. The lady who opened up the place supposedly has two restaurants in Louisiana?.but the food quality is poor. I tried the gumbo before ordering anything else, it tasted alright but they had put too much hot sauce in it. So I placed my to go order for gumbo w/o the hot sauce, chicken pasta, a crab cake and chicken fried rice. Figured I'd get an assortment of everything.
The crab cake was not too bad. I think it was deep fried though, not like any crab cake I've had before. The tartar sauce tasted like it had too much hot sauce in it. I like hot sauce but this is very tangy. The gumbo had chicken, sausage and shrimp. The shrimp still had their shells on. The chicken fried rice was not fried at all and had some weird spice in it. I still can?t figure out what it was. Last the chicken pasta, not enough sauce and I found little pieces of bones in my chicken. Everything there was a fail!
They haven't finished taking down the old quiznos decorations, so you can't tell what type of place you're going into. The menu is small, but the food is cheap. I "might" venture back just to try a poo boy sandwich, but don't hold much hope. I think the owner needs to take more time investing in her cooking techniques and the quality of her food. My husband says it all taste like it came out of a can. Sad to say...not impressed at all. Not really cajun. And I don't think it will stay open very long if they continue to serve food like that.
Re: Hutto Nesties
Sorry you had such a bad experience. We hated that they closed the Quiznos down. Have you been to Howdy's? We've been wanting to try it out, but haven't made it yet.
I've been putting off getting an oil change, but guess I should get my butt in gear while Christian Brothers is still running their special.
Thanks for the review!
Howdy's - is that the new place by the Texan? Haven't been there, but would like to go.
How disappointing! I was hoping it would be actually be decent especially since we have such a poor selection of places to eat around here. Thanks for the review though, now I know not to even waste our time.
I've also been wanting to try Howdy's but haven't made it yet. We should all do a Hutto GTG and try it out one of these evenings/weekends!
