Favorite OTC cold medicine?

I think I have a cold, and the CVS brand stuff isn't cutting it. Any suggestions?

Re: Favorite OTC cold medicine?

  • I like the liquid Zicam, mostly because it does not have a taste.

  • I don't know if this falls specifically in the cold medicine category, but I don't know what I'd do with mucinex. No complaints about any of the formulations, they all work well for me. Hope you feel better soon!

I love mucinex.  I like Tylenol Cold a lot, but really the only medicines that ever work for me are the pseudophedrine ones.  You have to buy them at the pharmacy counter.

  • Advil Cold and Sinus is the only thing that works for me. You have to get it from behind the counter at the pharmacy though.
  • I love Mucinex but it only works when I have a cough.  I asked a doctor and a couple pharmacists and they said Mucinex only seems to work with the chest cold stuff.  The only thing that works for my stuffy head is plain ol' Sudafed or cold meds that have Sudafed.
