Kris, re: the Coens

I can't post on FB at work, but I saw your comment about me watching Fargo.  I love the Coens, too!

I was so excited last night because it was a Coen marathon on Encore, so after Fargo it was Raising Arizona - I love that one!  But my favorite is The Big Lebowski, because J and I saw it on our first date (and Jeff Bridges cracks me up!).

Anyway, those guys are geniuses.  Which are your faves?

Re: Kris, re: the Coens

  • Those awesome films!

I have to add No Country for Old Men to the list. It's funny my DH, who is major movie buff, is not really fan of the brothers, but was happy he liked this one and The Big Lebowski. The Coens are a "bit out there" but they are so good at what they do! I just realized too, that George Clooney (GC) is a Coen-ite starring in Intolerable Cruelty and Burn After Reading. I'm not really sure if I liked that one so much, but GC always does really well in pretty much any film he does. Overall too, there seems to be alot of actors that appear in more, than one of their films. It's gotta say something about the brothers talent!

Looks there is a new one coming out later this year with Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, and Josh Brolin called True Grit. Should be good :)

I have such a crush on him!  He was also in O Brother, Where Are Thou (looking slightly less hunky).

I am so there... LOVE Josh Brolin!  You're right, No Country was amazing.  I can't believe I forgot about that one!

  • Am I the only one who loves The Hudsucker Proxy? It seems to be one of their less popular movies, but I loves it. Stick out tongue

I love the story, but Jennifer Jason Leigh bugs me so I've only watched it once or twice.  Or, maybe it's not JJL's fault and my subconscious avoids the movie because I'm a total failure at hula-hooping!

LMAO I can't hula-hoop either...it's so sad, I can spin it around once or twice and then it just falls to the ground. Stick out tongue

  • has anyone seen their latest one, A Single Man?  We watched it the other day and it was great.  Definitely recommend if you are a fan.  the marketing campaign for that film was not great and I didn't want to see it when it came out, but it's hilarious.

I hadn't even heard of this one! It must not have been released here yet (or not marketed at all, which is sadly common for non-mainstream movies).
