Elizabeth City anyone?

Greetings from New England!  Looking to know if anyone can suggest a good florist near/in Elizabeth City?  Also...what can you tell me about the area?  TIA!

Re: Elizabeth City anyone?

  • Aside from the coast guard base, there's not a ton there.  Elizabeth City is the main city in the area, it has (I'm guessing) around 20k people.  The counties that border it don't (if I recall correctly) have cities and are pretty rural.   There's a small university, two high schools in the county, a downtown waterfront, a hospital (not a major hospital system), not a ton of shopping or places to eat.  It's not that far from the outer banks and Norfolk.

I think Jeffrey's is a good florist there.

  • One of the ladies on the NC Knot boards just purchased a house in Elizabeth City, if you go on there and page "Keserzan," Im sure she'd have lots of valuable information
  • Great!  Thanks ladies!
  • Most of my extended family lives in E. City. I have to be honest...there's NOTHING there (except for the Coast Guard base). It's sort of a quaint little town, and it's an hour from Nags Head, so it's got that going for it. But, that's about it! :-)

My grandmother has used Mildred's Florist for years.

ETA: I should have just said "Ditto catlawdy." :-)

  • My husband and I are in Edenton(just outside of E. City) were were married last year and chose a florist that is in Hertford(next town over from elizabeth city). Dozier florist was the name. We chose them b/c the lady was extremely friendly/helpful/and cost efficent.

As far as Elizabeth city goes that is the big city to us. We have to go there to go the the lowes, and wal-mart.  Most people are correct in saying there is not much in elizabeth city except the coast guard base.  Much like edenton and hertford its a town on the water.

If we want to go shopping at the mall we will drive about 30 minutes past elizabeth city and go to the virginia area. They have everything you could possibly want.

     Hope this helps
