Holy allergies!

Goodness - This wind is killing me!  I must have sneezed 50 times before noon today.  I hope this wind dies down soon or it starts raining and gets the pollen out of the air.  Anyone else suffering? Any natural remedies?

Re: Holy allergies!

  • I was dying yesterday. Today I am doing better but the wind is crazy today in Santa Fe.

I've been dying for 3 weeks.  Especially because I get ABQ and SF allergies.  And SF sucked today for allergies.

I swear by my neti pot and nasal oil drops.  And lots of Claratin...

I love my neti pot too, since I started using it I haven't had a sinus infection.  I used to get 4-6 a year before. Since I've been pregnant this time it's been burning my sinuses so I had to stop using it.

  • Local honey!  It's delicious and the pollen in it from the local plants basically "inoculates" you against allergies.  You only have to eat about a tablespoon a day and in a few days I think you'll feel a difference.  I love it.  I haven't had a single problem (except for a little altitude sickness) since we moved in (about a week and a half ago).  I bought some local honey from the Co-op down the street and my nose, eyes, sinuses, etc, feel great.

My Dad's in the Navy and we moved a LOT.  Every spring my Mom would go buy a gallon of honey, feed it to us for breakfast (once we were old enough) and it's worked all over the world.  Japan, Florida Iceland, Illinois, Italy, Texas... everywhere.

    Hope this helps!

How are you doing with your pregnancy?  I keep meaning to ask...

  • Oh thanks for asking! It's going pretty good so far. Still getting a little morning sickness here and there, but baby looks great.

Thanks - I have local honey, but had never thought to take it everyday. I just use it here and there in my tea.  I'll try it!

  • Neti pot and my doctor recommended using a humidifier because our air is so dry here.
  • I second the humidifier- I use mine every night and love it. I agree that SF has been worse for allergies for me too.
