? about a/c

DH and I live in an apartment-style condo, and a couple hours ago the maintenance guy comes by to tell me that our a/c unit is "froze up" and that we should call someone to come and fix it.  Ugh, the joys of homeownership.

Anyway, my question is, when something goes wrong with the a/c, do they ever end up fixing it or just telling you to buy a new one?  If it helps, our a/c is definitely older than the 5 years that DH has lived here.

Re: ? about a/c

  • I have no idea, but GL getting it fixed! Hopefully it won't be too expensive.

  • It might just need a new part. Last summer the a/c wouldn't turn on in our apartment. When maintance looked at it they found that a part had broken (I think it was just a fuse or something simple) and they replaced it the same day.

    GL! I hope it's a simple fix and you don't need a new a/c!

  • It's impossible to say. I'm guessing it's something simple. GL, home ownership definitely sucks. We need a new roof - WTF.
