XP: Has anyone tried making these MS cupcakes
I am going to attempt to make these cute Martha Stewart chickie cupcakes

Has anyone tried to make these and could give me some tips before I start!? I've seen pictures of other's attempts & they just look pitiful - I'm guessing mine will turn out the same! TIA!
Re: XP: Has anyone tried making these MS cupcakes
I made those last night/this morning for DH and I to bring in to work. Here are my tips:
1) Do not make them with Passover friendly flourless chocolate cupcakes. I think this was my first mistake....that and it was a new recipe for cupcakes that didn't work out, so I ended up with cupcake tops that separated from bottoms = crumblies all over the kitchen when I tried to smoosh them together.
2) The frosting of the cupcakes is a bit time consuming - I gave myself an hour to make and frost the cupcakes and it definitely took longer than that.
3) This is going to sound awful, but I promise I washed my hands a million times, but I found the easiest way to frost the cupcakes was to put a scoop on top, and use my hands to cover and make it the right shape. Don't worry about messiness of the frosting, because putting the coconut on definitely hides any imperfection and will help with the shape.
4) Use a tweezer (CLEAN/STERILIZED - if you don't already have a tweezer used solely for kitchen....they're cheap enough to have one just for cupcake placement) to place the licorice for the eyes.
5) I don't know where MS found red candy licorice for the feet/comb, but I used Hot Tamales which look exactly the same and might be easier for you to find.
6) I did some regular, and some mini - if you go the mini route, I used almond slivers for the beak, and cut those Hot Tamales into slices for the feet/comb.
- I got rave reviews from DH's coworkers before I even set foot inside my own office this morning! Hope that helps!
ETA: I'm about to leave work for the day, but can post pictures this afternoon if you want.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I'm going to try them out tomorrow & bring them to the IL's on Sunday. I actually found some orange little licorice at Fresh Market that I think will be perfect! Thanks again for all of your advice!!
