I am having a mini-session with Libby for some mommy/baby shots at a local park (the same one where our maternity pics were shot last November). In Spring it looks like this:

I am not sure if by the 17th the trees will still be blooming, but the bulbs and azaleas should still be in bloom.
So...here's where I need help:
1) What should Libby and I wear? I want something that won't look too dated in the years to come (this will probably be the only portrait of us made when she's this young. We have her 3 month old shots on the 26th but they're in-studio and will mostly be here and maybe a couple with J and I and her). I am thinking I should wear a deeper color since pale ones don't look as great on me AND they're not as figure flattering. Colors I am considering for myself....Plum, Burgandy, Magenta or maybe a Teal. For Libby my choices thus far can be Spring Green, Pink or Pale Blue. I may be able to find something in white.
2) What sort of poses should we do? (I know our photog will have ideas, but I like to come with my own too). She cannot sit up on her own right now so I imagine I'll be holding her on my shoulder or in my lap for most of them.
PIPs of your ideas would be so helpful! Thanks ladies!
Re: Photo Portrait Advice Needed
My advice would be darker color on you (burgandy or teal) and either white or pale blue for Libby.
As for poses, um... I love the "detail" type shots: e.g. her head on your shoulder, her hand in yours, closeup of sleepy baby face/feet/hands in flowers or grass; seeing all/most of baby but only part of you. Sorry that I've got nothing too creative for you - I love photography but I don't take pictures of people!
Here's the website to Lyndsay's photog business. She's a former knottie/nestie and a professional family photog and I just love her pictures: http://www.lifeinmotionphotography.com/

Pretty! If you can find a grassy area by a tree, why not pick out a blanket and have her lie on that. It can be a special blanket that's meaningful in your family. Textured or pattern, just make sure her outfit is nice too.
Your photog can do shots from above and below as well. Maybe even bring a little bassinet if you have one? A moses basket? Something with texture always works well.
There is a group on Flickr for natural child light photography. You could always join and post your question there too.
Beautiful trees! OMG. I would love to have a session in that park
I like the idea of you in a deeper color and her in a lighter one - so burgundy/pale pink or deep blue/pale blue. I think that her in white would also look lovely - very fresh and crisp next to the garden.
As far as poses, I really like pp's idea of having a blanket for her to lie on (in addition to her on your shoulder, etc.).
You'll have to post pics when you get them - they're sure to be gorgeous!
