I received more support from you when I got my acceptance letter than I did from my mom.  I told her I got in and she said "Do you really need a masters degree?  I guess I should have sent P an Easter basket since you couldn't afford to get him one."  And she wonders why I left home at 18....

    Just tell her that yes, you do.  The national accrediting/licensing board made it a requirement for all new OT's to have master's degrees to take the national exam in 2007. Almost all 50 states require you to take and pass said exam to get a license, which all employers (in states with licensing) will require for you to work.  Very simple.  :)

     And CONGRATS, again!  Welcome to the best profession in healthcare!

     Boo to your moms for not being more supportive!  Doesn't she know that once you have one job opportunities for you will get even greater and with this economy that is a very good thing.
