Roomba - Robot Vacuum?

Just wondering if anyone owns one of these and what do you think?

We have laminate floors in our entire house and its seems like they are constantly dirty and since we don't get home till late vacuuming/sweeping isn't fleasible unless its on the weekend. So we are thinking this might be the solution.

Re: Roomba - Robot Vacuum?

  • My mom had 2 of an older model (it's red), and decided she didn't need both so she gave me one.

The first time she gave it to me, the battery didn't work, at all. She swapped it for a spare battery we had, and we've been happily using it for a few months.

I love the option to go out and have the place clean when we come back. We found it worked really well, but this was before we got a cat.

Now it seems that the battery is dead again! So I'm kind of annoyed.

So to summarize - works well but the batteries are kind of sucky, in my experience. But that may be because mine is older.

  • We want one!!! White floors and a black dog... very annoying. hahha. We are thinking of buying one of the Pet models when it goes on sale (and when we're finished buying other higher priority items for the house).
  • We don't have one, but I'd like one.  I think my cats would sit on it and break it though! *LOL*

  • Friends of ours have one and they love it.  I want one, but I'm pretty sure the dogs would eat it.
  • We have one his name is Wilbur and we love him.  The model we have is the 530.  Doesnt have the timer but it works fantastically. We got it as a wedding gift a year and a half ago and its truely a life saver.  Our house is 4 stories so we have alot of stairs.  Bringing the vacuum up and down the stairs is painful every week so its a great option. It also gets under the bed and sometimes i cant believe how much it picks up.

I try to vacuum once a month with the regular vacuum and let the roomba do the rest. The battery time is getting a little slower but it still does 1 floor at a time. I love it and will buy another one with this dies.

  • Haha, Wilbur? Too funny! I have one named Winston and I am super pleased with "him". I have two dogs, one of which sheds NONSTOP and I love being able to press "start" in the morning when I leave for work and come home to clean floors. They are really effective and they do a great job of cleaning under things. Only problem is that you actually have to clear off the floor to use it. I'm waiting for the roomba that picks up and puts away books and magazines before vacuuming! Wink
  • I love that everyone names their robot. Ours is Abacus. My oldest sister's is Alfred, and my other sisters is Winston.

We love ours. We have a dog now and my one sister always comments how clean the house looks. I tell her Abacus does a wonderful job. I just push the button and go to bed :)
I LOVE that it will get under the bed. That's the best.

    We bought ours at Costco.
