Someone just posted on Facebook...

"I need to run arons"

I can let a lot of stuff slide on FB b/c everyone makes typing errors and I know that not everyone is a great speller, but holy crap!

Re: Someone just posted on Facebook...

  • Last night, some of my co-workers and I were picking on this one guy who is on vacation this week, he is widely known as a slacker but we all adore him anyway, he posted something on his status about being on vacation in Charleston with his family and having a great time... etc etc. So we were all commenting on it, someone said, oh we know you are just down there claiming to be "working," and some others were picking on him. Well I posted, "I'm just waiting for (coworker)'s retort,'Yeah, y'all talking junk about me, go on.'  LOL" So another one of my co-workers who is always talking about how "blond" she is, posts below my post, "Heh heh, he's a retort..."  Indifferent
  • After reading certain posts and the horrible grammer/spelling on facebook, I begin to wonder about our education system.  A former youth of ours seriously is incapable of writing a full (and understandable) sentence and I only wish that she was writing that way to sound "cute."  I can't stand the weird spelling people use or TypiNg liKe tHis aLL thE tImE.  I'm not a grammer queen by any means but come on!

    Indifferent  indeed

  • LOL@ derky

517b, I have the same reaction, but I think some of them got out of it what they put into it. You can't blame the teachers for everything. Also, where were the parents when this girl was learning to confuse "arons" with "errands?"

  • gosh shoe...why did you repost my status on here..... :b

Oh I am definitely not blaming the teachers one bit!  In working with college students who can't speak properly or write to save their lives, I just wonder how on earth they got out of high school much less got into college!

  • 517b, For real. Do the admissions officers even read the applications anymore?

Jenna, sorry I outed you. Wink

  • I've seen my very dyslexic brother spell things in far worse ways and it's not for lack of trying to use word to help edit his misspellings. That's probably why he doesn't use his FB account and refuses to try online dating, b/c people would make fun of him.

    This makes me sad.

FWIW the person in question is not dyslexic. Or if they are they were never diagnosed.

  • DH's uncle (and uncle's son) drive me up the wall with their grammar and spelling disabilities.  I feel like such a B, but it really pains me to talk with them (fb talk and skype) so I just ignore them from time to time. *sigh*

Where did all the crazy spelling and slang come from? It sure wasn't like this when I was in school, and that honestly wasn't THAT long ago. Surprise

I do have my own faults though Hah!
